Prairie North Co-op Announces 2026 Fuel Good Day Charities

Melfort, SK (for immediate release) — On Wednesday, September 15, 2026 Prairie North Co-op is proud to join Co-ops across western Canada in celebrating 10 years of giving back through Fuel Good Day.

In April the co-operative put a call out to local charities and community groups. A number of both local and provincial organizations applied.

“After vetting the applications, today we are happy to announce that the funds from the tenth annual Fuel Good Day will be split between the senior centres in the communities of Archerwill, Kelvington, Melfort, Naicam, St. Brieux and Spalding”, explains Keith Mamer, Gas Bar Division Manager for Prairie North Co-op.

Mamer goes on to say, “This year, as we have done in past years, Prairie North Co-op will match the five cents that Federated Co-op (FCL) donates from fuel sales that day. Added to that are the funds from the charity BBQs hosted at our gas bars and one dollar from every Big Cool and Co-operative Coffee sold will also be donated”.

Every year on Fuel Good Day, Co-ops across western Canada donate a minimum of five cents per litre of fuel purchased at participating gas bars to local charities and non-profits. There were more than 220 organizations selected as recipients for Fuel Good Day in 2025 across the Co-op Retailing System. Thanks to Co-op members and customers across Western Canada, more than $795,000 was raised in one day, eclipsing the previous record of $704,000 raised in 2024.

Together, approximately $5.6 million has been raised since the event began in 2017.

With the support of customers, members and the community, Prairie North Co-op has raised an average of $10,000 a year since 2017 for local charities through annual Fuel Good Days. That is an amazing $90,000!
