22Apr2020 Update

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a global challenge that’s having a real impact on local Co-ops. We continue to follow the guidance provided by Saskatchewan Health, Health Canada and the World Health Organization because we all have a role to play in reducing the risk of exposure and preventing the spread of COVID-19. Our initial response to the pandemic was to:

• Take additional sanitation measures to ensure the health and safety of everyone visiting our locations
• Temporarily adjust our operating hours to keep up with sanitation requirements, to restock our shelves, to give our team members an opportunity to rest and reduce unnecessary exposure
• Postpone all in-store special programming, training and events, in-store sampling, and self-serve hot food and beverages
• Provide a designated shopping hour from 8 am – 9 am at our Food Stores for seniors and vulnerable community members
• Encourage both our employees and shoppers to practice social distancing at all our locations
• Implement a system of directional arrows to facilitate social distancing and manage shopper flow
• Remove the charge for plastic bags and ask that customers leave their cloth bags at home
• Offer free delivery service of all items within our communities and curbside pickup as requested
• Encourage families to shop alone and leave children at home if possible, to minimize exposure
• Install shields at check outs
• Set-up e-transfer for payment of delivery and accounts receivable
• Encourage debit or credit card payments at tills and the use tap if possible
• Monitor the situation and update our response as needed

Following are just a few additional changes that you will see at your local Prairie North Co-ops:

• We have increased the tap limit for purchases. NOTE: some financial institutions have yet to increase the limit, if you are unable to tap for more than $100, please contact your financial institution
• We have added an online ordering option for all of our Food Stores. NOTE: we will make every effort to ensure that orders placed before 1:00 pm are delivered the same day
• Due to the potential health risks involved, we will not be accepting returns until further notice; that being said, every effort will be made to address customer concerns

Our front line team members are doing an amazing job and I would like to personally thank each and every one of them. They are the real superheroes in each of our locations. Below are some links that may be useful in navigating the upcoming weeks:
