Fuel Up To Fill Plates in Year Three
Fuel Up To Fill Plates in Year Three
Thanks to the support of our members and customers during the 2025 Fuel Up to Fill Plates campaign, we exceeded last year's total raised. The average litres per day between November 28 and December 14 were 40,133, for a total of 682,275 litres sold during the campaign. Based on the one cent per litre commitment that we made, we raised $6822 which was rounded up to $7,000 to donate to local food banks before Christmas. Together, we’re making a meaningful difference to these groups and our neighbours who rely on them.
Fuel Up to Fill Plates, a Prairie North Co-op homegrown campaign, was back for its third year. "We are proud to be making a difference with food banks in Kelvington, Melfort, and Naicam by giving thousands of dollars each year through programs like our Fuel Up to Fill Plates campaign; through charity fundraising BBQs throughout the summer months that average between $800 and $2000; and through in-kind donations and donation collections", explains Keith Mamer, gas bar division manager.
Mamer goes on to say, "Fuel Up to Fill Plates, which generates the majority of our giving to local food banks, was something that our gas bar division came up with. The idea was to donate one cent from every litre sold through our gas bars over a two week period in early December. In its first year 488,665 liters of fuel were sold and we rounded the donation up to $5000. Last year the number of litres sold was 633,346; we rounded up the donation to $6500."
Another component of the campaign is that everyone who fills up* at one of our gas bars is eligible to enter their name in a draw for a $500 Co-op gift card.
