Co-operatives have a long history of serving members in Western Canada. In the early 20th century, people worked together to create retail co-operatives in many towns in the four western Canadian provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia).

We pride ourselves on our customer service and invite you to visit a location closest to you. When you visit, we strive to make you to feel like “You’re at home here.”




Significant Dates in the History of Prairie North Co-op

  • June, 1914 Melfort Grain Growers Co-operative is incorporated, the origins of Melfort Co-op.
  • May, 1967 Red & White Store in St. Brieux purchased as a branch of Melfort Co-op.
  • January, 2010 Naicam Co-op amalgamates with Melfort Co-op to form Prairie North Co-op.
  • January, 2011 Spalding Co-op amalgamates with Prairie North Co-op.
  • January, 2018 East Central Co-op (Kelvington) amalgamates with Prairie North Co-op
  • March, 2019 Archerwill locations become part of Prairie North Co-op
