Prairie North Co-op Proud to Continue Legacy in St. Brieux
May 4, 2022

Melfort, SK (for immediate release) – Prairie North Co-op, together with Judy Lefebvre, owner, are pleased to announce the purchase of St. Brieux Ag & Auto in St. Brieux.

“My husband, Gerry started the business more than 30 years ago,” says Judy Lefebvre, “over the years we have been proud to offer our customers a good variety of what they need for their farming operations.”

On June 3, 2022, St. Brieux Ag & Auto will close its doors. The re-opening under Prairie North Co-op is tentatively planned for mid to end of July. “We need time to complete some renovations and fill the shelves,” explains Louis Syrenne, Home and Building Solutions Division Manager for Prairie North Co-op. Natalie Sakundiak, who has worked for the Lefebvre’s since 2009, will stay on to manage the day-to-day operation of the business as a Prairie North Co-op employee.

Prairie North Co-op currently supports the communities of Acherwill, Kelvington, Melfort, Naicam, and Spalding through the supply of quality hardware products. Although the St.Brieux Food Store carries a small selection of Agro/Hardware product, selection is limited. Says Syrenne, “we recognized that the closure of St. Brieux Ag & Auto would leave a huge hole in the community so when the opportunity to discuss an acquisition presented itself, we were happy to talk about how we could ensure that the legacy continued”.

“I think that my husband, Gerry, would be pleased to see the business that he started so long ago, remain in the community,” says Lefebvre.

Gerry Lefebvre’s grandparents settled in the area in the early 1900’s. Gerry grew up and went to school in St. Brieux. Today, Gerry and Judy’s son is on the family farm.
